Thunder Bay – SPORTS – In their final game at the McMaster Thanksgiving Classic, the women’s volleyball team were defeated 3-1 by the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday (27-25, 13-25, 23-25, 21-25).
“We struggled with all aspects of volleyball today,” said coach Chris Green.
On a positive note, Green added, “Shining lights today were our libero Alyssa Genereux who has progressed so well this weekend and Sara Potter, who with her play this weekend has secured a starting left side position. She has developed through the ranks as a left side who can be consistent and trusted. Cannot say enough about those two.
Genereux finished the game with 16 digs and Sara Potter was the only hitter with a positive efficiency rating. As a team Lakehead finished with 10 blocks and 7 aces.
Moving forward, coach Green’s analysis of the weekend is clear:
“We have a real issue with consistency and our players’ drive to achieve it. The same errors creep up over and over; until you change your outlook on the process you will struggle to succeed. Time to ramp things up this week.”
Next up for the volleyball team is their home opener vs Nipissing on October 23 in the Thunderdome at 7:00pm.
