Two Kenora Men Face Charges over Pellet Gun Incident Downtown

OPP Ontario Provincial PoliceKENORA – NEWS – The Ontario Provincial Police report that two Kenora men face weapons charges. The incident happened in downtown Kenora on Friday, the 18th of September. Police received a number of 911 calls about two men in the downtown area, one was reportedly carrying a rifle, the other apparently had his face covered.

The Ontario Provincial Police were able to respond quickly, and the two suspects were taken into custody.  The two men were arrested without incident.

Police investigating discovered that the gun to be a pellet gun.  As a result of this investigation Andrew Pottker, a twenty-year-old man from Reddit and Cole Sherred, a nineteen-year-old from Kenora have both been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code.

Both men have been released and are to appear in Kenora Court on October 29, 2015.

The Ontario Provincial Police state that they “Wish to thank the members of the public for recognizing this threat to public safety and quick manner in which they made this information available to police.”
