Thunder Bay Police Get Their Suspect in Car Theft

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police made an arrest last night for a stolen vehicle.

Police report that they received a 911 call at 1:12AM EDT about a vehicle that had just been stolen from outside a Moodie Street residence.

Police were told that “A male attending a gathering at that residence took keys that did not belong to him and drove away with the vehicle”.

Within minutes, patrol officers observed the vehicle on Arthur Street and began to follow it. They were eventually able to stop the vehicle at Archibald Street and Victoria Avenue.

The male driver was arrested for Theft of Motor Vehicle, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Obstructing Police when it was determined he lied about his identity.

The male was escorted to the Balmoral Police Station where he was also charged with Fail to Provide a Breath Sample in relation to the impaired charge.

Billy Ray Thompson, thirty-three-years of age appeared in court on all of these charges along with unrelated charges from outstanding warrants.

He has been remanded in custody.

The stolen vehicle was returned to the owner.
