LONDON – ELECTION 2015 – Leader Tom Mulcair continued to focus on his plan to kick-start manufacturing, support small businesses and create jobs, today. At a campaign stop in London, Mulcair also criticized Stephen Harper for the loss of 400,000 manufacturing jobs.
“From alternative fuels to research technology developers, Canadian companies are global leaders in research and innovation,” said Mulcair. “Our Innovation Tax Credit will support cutting edge research and development, stimulating investment, jobs and economic growth.”
The NDP’s Innovation Tax Credit will save eligible innovative manufacturers $40 million per year and stimulate additional investment.
“Stephen Harper’s plan isn’t working. Thousands of manufacturing jobs have been lost in London alone and Mr. Harper is once again leading Canada into recession,” said Mulcair. “The NDP has a concrete plan to create manufacturing jobs and help small businesses right here in London and across Canada.”
“Sciencetech Inc. has been designing and manufacturing optical spectroscopy instruments right here in Canada since 1985,” said Mulcair. “Hard working innovators like Sciencetech Inc. are creating the majority of new jobs in Canada. Our plan helps them grow and succeed.”
Mulcair has previously announced that he will reduce the small business tax rate from 11 per cent to 9 per cent, starting right away, as another measure to support jobs and economic growth.
