NAPS Nishnawbe Police ServiceKeewaywin FN – NEWS – On July 26, 2015, in the First Nation community of Keewaywin, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service members received information which led police to a drug trafficking investigation.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police seized Percocet pills with a street value amount of approximately ten thousand eighty ($10,080.00) dollars and also Crack Cocaine with a street value of approximately four thousand ($4,000.00) dollars.

Thirty-one-year-old Carrie Ann Meekis of Keewaywin First Nation has been charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.ÂÂ MEEKIS was released from custody on conditions and will next appear in court in Keewayin on November 3, 2015.

Keewaywin First Nation is approximately 225 km northeast of Red Lake.
