THUNDER BAY – Nishnawbe-Aski Nation has a new Grand Chief and new Deputy Grand Chiefs. Last week in Council in Aroland First Nation, NAN Chiefs selected their new representatives. Newly elected NAN Deputy Grand Chief Derek Fox brings a set of new eyes and ideas to the Executive Council at NAN.

Sitting down with NetNewsLedger, DGC Derek Fox shares insights into his new responsibilities and the directions that NAN is looking to head over the term.

Following the NAN Council in Aroland, the NAN Executive held meetings in Toronto, and are moving very quickly in implementing new policies and directions.

DGC Derek Fox put in a lot of time and effort to listen to, and engage with the communities during the campaign and he states that is something that the NAN Executive Council will continue doing over the term.

Fox is in Ginoogaming First Nation today to speak with youth in the community about economic development and education. The invite came following his speech in Aroland, as the Ginoogaming Chief and Council felt that the youth in their community needed to hear that message of hope.
