TORONTO – ELECTION 2015 – NDP Leader Tom Mulcair launched his autobiography entitled Strength of Conviction, at events in Toronto and Montreal on Monday. The book chronicles his life, values and highlights what it means to back up your beliefs with actions to help others.
“My mom and dad both loved to debate political issues and it was at the dinner table where I learned the values of hard work and public service,” said Mulcair. “I know readers will come away with a deeper understanding of me as a politician, but also as a husband, father and grandfather.”
Strength of Conviction is a chance for readers to meet Tom the politician, but also to learn how growing up in a house with 10 kids in Laval in the 1960s and 1970s has shaped his leadership. From fighting for Canada in the 1980 and 1995 referendums, to defending patients from abuses of their doctors, or leaving cabinet over opposition to condo development on park land, Mulcair’s story is sure to inspire.
“I knew early on that I wanted to work to improve the lives of others. I believe that politics can be a noble profession and if you want to make a difference, you have to have conviction and put words into action,” said Mulcair.
