Gas Leak on Fort William First Nation

Breaking NewsTHUNDER BAY – UPDATED – Union Gas advises that about 70 customers are impacted by a gas line disruption this morning at about 9:30AM on Fort William First Nation. Union Gas is assessing the damage and are effecting repairs. It is estimated that all repairs will be completed by early afternoon.

All Union Gas customers will be or are being contacted by the company. All service should be restored by early this evening.

Crews are mopping up the incident, as clean up has reportedly started. Danger is over on the Fort William First Nation.

Earlier – Reports have come into the newsroom of a gas leak on the Fort William First Nation.

Five or six homes have been evacuated. There are no reports of injuries.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue and FWFN officials are evacuating home owners to the arena.

Fort William First Nation is hosting a day camp at the community centre this week, there is no word on an evacuation of the community centre, which is located near the arena.
