THUNDER BAY – ROAD Construction – The City of Thunder Bay advises the following road closures due to Road Construction:

Pacific Avenue Bridge

The Pacific Avenue Bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic and pedestrians on Tuesday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 15, due to resurfacing.

There will be no access to the East End neighbourhood via Pacific Avenue during the work period. Motorists will be required to use the Main Street or Central Avenue bridges to access the area. Pedestrians can access the East End by using the tunnel located near the intersection of Simpson and Rowand streets.

Golf Links Road

Golf Links Road from Crystal Street/Cascade Crescent South to Fairbank Crescent will close to vehicular through traffic on Tuesday, July 14, as part of the ongoing Golf Links Road expansion project.

The closure will allow the McIntyre River bridge to be reconfigured to accommodate four lanes of traffic. In addition, new steel pedestrian bridges will be built across the McIntyre River.

Pedestrians will continue to have access to the area while work is being done by utilizing a marked corridor. All those walking in the area during the work period are asked to obey posted signage.

Access to River Terrace will be available from Oliver Road at the south end of the construction zone only, via the Golf Links Road and Crystal Street/Cascade Crescent South intersection.

The construction schedule is subject to change, as various factors – such as weather – can have an impact on project timelines.

Those travelling in the construction areas are asked to use extra caution.
