THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Organizers of the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel say that they are ready to host next week’s event in style. Monday is the official kick off with Opening Ceremonies in the morning and the Porter Celebrity Pro-Am scheduled for the afternoon. The public is encouraged to come out and enjoy these activities preceding the official competition days of Thursday through Sunday.

Adding to the previously announced line-up for Monday of Grant Fuhr and Marc Savard, the Porter Celebrity Pro-Am will also include former Edmonton Oiler Mike Krushelnyski, New York Ranger Derek Stepan, TSN’s Gino Reda and Glenn Schiller and a host of other celebrities playing in the event.

Scott Smith, Executive Director of the Tournament says that there are even more names to announce leading up to the event. “We have finalized the roster of celebrities for this year, and they are all looking forward to supporting the event” stated Smith. “We promise you, Tuesday will be an exciting day for fans to come out and watch and collect autographs.”

Hockey Hall of Famer and Legend, Bobby Orr will be at the course on Tuesday, supporting the Staal Family Foundation.

The Opening Ceremonies on Monday will include the Staal Family, PGA TOUR Officials, local and provincial dignitaries and guests. They will officially launch the second year of the Mackenzie TOUR – PGA TOUR Canada event in Thunder Bay. Brett Cleverdon’s golf show will also be a part of the opening. Organizers are very pleased to offer many on site activities beyond the golf for everyone to enjoy throughout the week.

Tickets are still available online or at a number of city venues. Tickets are $10.00 per day or $30.00 for the week-long event. Children ages 14 and under are free.
