Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – CRIME – A speeding driver generated some unwanted attention early this morning.

Thunder Bay Police report that officers stopped a 2014 Nissan auto just after 12:00AM EDT this morning for speeding in a 50 km/h zone on Balmoral Street near Jasper Drive.

The officer observed a large zip lock bag believed to be marijuana.

Further investigation resulted in a seizure of marijuana, cocaine, magic mushrooms and a substantial amount of cash from the vehicle. The male driver and female passenger were taken into custody.

Drugs & Cash seized:
• 484.8 grams marihuana
• 18.4 grams of psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
• 7.6 grams cocaine
• $19,215 Canadian currency

The drugs seized have an approximate street value of $8,400. The twenty-one-year old driver and the sixteen-year-old female passenger have both been charged with:

CDSA 5(2) Possession of a Schedule II Substance (Marijuana) for the Purpose of Trafficking
CDSA 4(1) Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine)
CDSA 4(1) Possession of a Schedule III Substance (Psilocybin)
CC 354(1) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Both accused are residents of Thunder Bay. The 16 year old was released on a Promise to Appear for a July 31, 2015 court date. The adult male has been released on a PTA and will appear in court on August 11, 2015.

Thunder Bay Police state that name of the adult male cannot be released at this time since the information is still to be sworn to. The female’s name will not be released since she is a youth.
