THUNDER BAY – The view in the Thunder Bay area isn’t being impacted by fog. Smoke from wild fires in Saskatchewan is drifting into the area.

For persons with breathing issues, there is likely to be an impact.

Special air quality statement in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

Smoke affecting some regions of Northwestern Ontario today.

Significant smoke plumes originating from forest fires over Saskatchewan are being carried southeastward by mid and low level atmospheric flow over the above location.

Trajectory models indicate that smoke from these fires could affect the regions today. It is unknown how much of the smoke will remain aloft or affect the ground level. Thus it is possible that parts of Northwestern Ontario could experience deteriorating air quality from this smoke.
