One Man Crime Spree Results in Long List of Charges

Crime Report Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY – A sixteen-year-old male is in custody facing charges from a number of separate incidents that occurred last night that kept police very busy. The youth went on an apparent one person crime spree spreading right across the city.

Just before 3:30AM EDT, Thunder Bay Police Service Officers responded to the area of Selkirk Street after a report was received of tires squealing and a loud crash being heard between Victoria Street and Arthur Street.

Upon arrival, officers observed the Superior EMS building on the corner of Selkirk and Arthur Street had been struck and the offending vehicle had left the area dragging a 55 gallon drum down the street.

At approximately 3:30AM EDT police received a call by an employee at the Esso on Memorial Ave to report a theft of gas by a young male driving a truck.

Just shortly after 4:00AM EDT a 911 call was received by police after a male wearing a disguise entered the Mac’s Convenience Store located on Balsam Street and committed a robbery with a knife then fled the scene. When officers arrived they were able to get a good descriptor of the male to be forwarded to other patrol officers.

The police then received a call at 4:50AM EDT of a vehicle collision in the parking lot of Big Pine Trailer Sales on Cumberland Street. The truck struck two trailers, a concrete barrier and a large propane tank. The truck then proceeded to reverse out of the lot and across the street and struck two vehicles parked in a parking lot at Cordone Bros. Service and Sales LTD.

A male on his way to work, observed these events and approached to take the male driver out of the truck just as police arrived. The male was arrested and escorted to the Balmoral Police Station.

At 5:50AM EDT, the registered owner of the truck that the youth was driving called the police to report his truck stolen.

The 16 year old male was charged with:
• Theft of Motor Vehicle
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
• Operation with over 80 Mg of Alcohol
• Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Robbery
• Disguise with Intent
• Mischief over $5,000 x 3
• Breach of Probation

He appeared in court and has been remanded with a court date of June 25, 2015
