Taxi Cab Driver Safe After Armed Robbery Attempt

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police arrested a twenty-year-old male just before 11:00PM on June 14, 2015 after the man attempted to rob a taxi cab driver near Limbrick Street.

The suspect, who was armed with a knife, tried to ambush the driver when he was returning to his vehicle.

Thunder Bay Police state that “The male chased the driver but fortunately the driver was able to get back to his vehicle and lock himself in before the male could injure him”.

Police responded quickly and and arrested the suspect in the area. The knife was recovered.

Thunder Bay Police report that the male who is not a permanent resident of Thunder Bay, will be appearing in court later today. Several criminal charges were laid including attempt armed robbery and breach of his recognizance.
