THUNDER BAY – POLICE NEWS – Thunder Bay Police have ended their search for a reportedly armed male suspect.  In a media statement, Police advise they have concluded a thorough search of the area around and including the Intercity Shopping Centre for an armed male.

Police had been on scene since approximately 12:19 p.m. today after an off duty Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service officer spotted the armed individual in the vicinity.  For a short period of time, Intercity Shopping Centre was evacuated to allow police to search for the suspect.  The search of the area has proven negative.

Businesses in the area are now open.

The male is described as Caucasian, 5’7” tall, with a slim build, and in his 20’s.

The male was armed with knife which had brass knuckles in the handle.  He was carrying a satchel and what appeared to have been a firearm.

Police are releasing a surveillance photo from a nearby business which shows the suspect prior to his entry to Intercity Shopping Centre.  Later, the suspect was seen wearing a t-shirt which had pictures of marijuana plants on it.
