Rough Start to Long Weekend – Man Drowns in Two Island Lakes

OPPTHUNDER BAY – The Victoria Day long weekend got off to a rough start. A seventy-five-year-old man drown at Two Island Lakes, in Jacques Township on Friday, May 15th in the afternoon.

The Thunder Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police report that officers responded to an emergency call on Friday at about 5:00PM EDT to a report of a missing male kayaker on Two Island Lakes which is located north of Thunder Bay.

The body of the victim, identified as Lawrence Wilson, was recovered.

OPP state that a post-mortem will be conducted and that their investigation continues.

Water temperatures at this time of the year are still very cold. Hypothermia is a very real risk.
