THUNDER BAY – FIRE UPDATE – There were no new forest fires confirmed in the Northwest Region by the afternoon of May 12. Nipigon District Fire Number 11 and Thunder Bay District Fire Number 14 have been declared out. The forest fire hazard is low across most of the region with an area of moderate hazard in the northwest sector of the Red Lake District.
The Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services program is reminding people that they are responsible for safe outdoor fire management and must follow guidelines set out in the Forest Fires Prevention Act of Ontario including no day burning of brush or grass fires.
