Thunder Bay, ON – The Thunder Bay Chill are set to open training camp with two sessions on Saturday, May 9 heading into their 16th season of play. The PDL season got underway with three games last Saturday and 10 more this weekend, as most of the Chill former and new players are still making their way to Thunder Bay.

Set to return to the Chill after a 3 year absence is team all-time leading scorer Brandan Swartzendruber. In 64 games over 4 seasons with the Chill, Swartzendruber amassed 57 goals over 5620 minutes leading the team to the 2008 PDL Championship.

Swartzendruber will join 16 other new faces with only 4 players returning from last year’s squad. Another former player set to come back after a one year absence is Spanish Midfielder Sergio Campano Franco who was part of the 2013 finalist team in Austin, Texas.

The Chill will train over the next two weeks prior to starting the 2015 season on the road against the last team they played in 2014, the St. Louis Lions. The Chill play on Saturday May 23rd and Sunday May 24th before coming home for two friendlies against the Winnipeg Lions.

The Chill home opener is set for June 5th against the Springfield Synergy FC (formerly the Demize). All Chill games are set for tbaytel Field at Fort William Stadium.

The Thunder Bay Chill plays in the 64 team prospect focused Premier Development League (PDL) which is the top developmental men’s league in North America.
