THUNDER BAY, ON – The weather across Northwestern Ontario has been improving and the winter storm advisory has been lifted.
Wasaya Airways report, “Yesterday, the majority of flights in Wasaya Airways network were operating. Only flights were delayed into Summer Beaver, Kingfisher Lake, Wunnumin Lake, Lansdowne House and Fort Hope due to poor visibility in blizzard conditions and poor runway conditions yesterday”.
The company says, “Wasaya Airways managed to transport 60% of guests by the end of yesterday and should see all remaining delayed guests reach their destinations today. Delayed cargo and baggage will also be sent over the new few days and we expect to have everything delivered by the weekend. Environment Canada does not anticipate any unfavourable weather which would cause any further delays”.
Company spokesperson Sharon Smith-Baxter says, “Yesterday was a busy day for our Centre which received 725 calls. The Customer Care Centre staff did a great job keeping guests updated on the status of their flights. Our Customer Care Centre does contact each guest to inform them of flight delays and cancellations and guests can keep up to date by contacting the Centre regarding updates and flight statuses at 1-877-492-7292”.
Sharon Smith-Baxter added, “We once again thank all of our guests for their patience and support over the past few days. At Wasaya Airways, safety is our number one priority and therefore we will not attempt to fly in unsafe conditions or land at an airport with unsafe runway conditions”.
