Thunder Bay is under a Special Weather Statement today. If that old adage, “Red sky at morning, sailor take warning” means anything, this morning’s red sky means hang tight.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Upsala – Raith
  • Marathon – Nipigon – Superior North
  • Dryden
  • Ignace
  • Sioux Lookout – Savant Lake

Significant rainfall today.
Ontario Weather

Thunder Bay is under a Watershed Advisory from the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority.

An area of significant rain from the Central United States will move into Northwestern Ontario this morning. A general rainfall of 15 to 25 mm is expected. However a few locales could see 30 mm.

Environment Canada states, “Rain beginning early this morning. Rain mixed with wet snow this morning. Rainfall amount 10 to 20 mm. Wind becoming east 20 km/h this morning. High plus 3.

of rain. Amount 5 to 10 mm. Wind east 20 km/h becoming light after midnight. Low plus 2.
