Taking it to the Streets

THUNDER BAY – Mayor Keith Hobbs and Guardian Angel Ian Hodgkinson were on the streets of Thunder Bay last night along with a documentary film crew from London England.

The issue of crime, racism, and some of the social media pages currently being created on Facebook were discussed as the City of Thunder Bay works hard to get out from under the cloud created by a group of people over pictures being posted, and comments being made on social media.

The discussion took place early on Monday evening with a tour from City Hall down Brodie Street, to Victoria Avenue.

Heading back to City Hall along May Street, a young woman needed assistance. She was on Donald Street in front of the Thunder Bay Museum.

The Guardian Angels contacted EMS and Police who responded in a few minutes to offer assistance to the woman.

In dealing with the issues of addiction, and racism, Thunder Bay has a tall task ahead of it. As efforts to solve the problems are ongoing, sources tell NNL that investigations are ongoing into what many are calling ‘hate pages’ pop up on Facebook.

Initially police were investigating two pages that were on the popular Social Media site. Now additional pages are under investigation.
