The Roar Starts Early with Bobby Orr and Staal Foundation
THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Hockey Hall of Fame legend Bobby Orr will lend his support to the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel this summer. Bobby Orr will be onsite at Whitewater Golf Club on Tuesday July 14th and Wednesday July 15th participating in various events to support the tournament’s charity eff
“Learning that Bobby has decided to participate in our event this summer is absolutely thrilling,” said Scott Smith, Executive Director. “Bobby has shown a strong interest in supporting Thunder Bay and region and our eff to raise money for charity along with the Staal Family Foundation. We hope his presence will help us take our event and its community impact to the next level.”
Staal Foundation Open Presented by Tbaytel Gets Roaring
“Having a legend of the game like Bobby Orr joining us to support the Staal Family Foundation in Thunder Bay this summer is a huge honor for our family,” said Eric Staal. “When you think of the biggest icons in the game, Bobby is up there with the very best of them, and someone my brothers and I revered growing up. We can’t wait to have him join us in Thunder Bay this summer.”
Orr started playing for the Boston Bruins at 18 years of age and collected numerous accolades, including eight consecutive Norris Trophies as the league’s top defenseman and three Hart Trophies as the league’s Most Valuable Player. He retired from the game in October of 1978 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
Since his retirement, Orr has worked frequently with charitable initiatives and has maintained close links with the game. He later became an agent, helping young players benefi by sharing his diffi early experiences through the business side of the sport.

With Bobby generously lending his support, we look forward to the event making an even bigger diff in Thunder Bay and region this year.”

The current schedule has Bobby Orr visiting Tuesday and Wednesday. A more detailed schedule will be released at a later date.
