Spring cleaning will get started soon. City crews will get going soon.

THUNDER BAY – Spring is here. Officially, on Friday spring will arrive in Thunder Bay. For local businesses in the downtown Fort William Business District, and in the Waterfront District in the north core Entertainment District, along with the Bay and Algoma and Westfort business areas, it means waiting in some cases for weeks, or even for months, for the streets and sidewalks to be cleared of winter’s collection of mess.

It is never too early to start spring cleaning for not only businesses but for home owners as well. It will save time and effort in the long run anyhow. It is likely going to be weeks before the City starts the official spring cleaning.

For business owners, clearing the sidewalk of the gravel and dirt means your shop will be cleaner. It also gives you an opportunity to get outside and meet the people in your neighbourhood.

It is also a great way to make sure the area around your business is cleared of broken glass, discarded syringes, and other litter.

The melting snow often hides a lot of mess in the snow banks.

It might be a while before Thunder Bay City Crews get rolling and sweeping, but the look of your business is yours to care for first.

As the snow melts, some parts of downtown get slippery.
