THUNDER BAY – The Regional Multicultural Youth Council was honoured this morning at the Diversity Thunder Bay 9th Annual Celebration for the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The RMYC received the Respect Award.
The RMYC has worked over the past two decades under the mentorship of Moffat Makuto to provide youth with a voice in Thunder Bay, to build leaders, and to offer safe and positive outlets for the boundless enthusiasm of youth.
“We must invest in the next generation,” shared Moffat. “We need to support all children, reach out to youth who are vulnerable and at risk, and help those whose families, neighbourhoods and communities are marginalized”.
“It is truly an honour,” said Samantha Smith on behalf of the RMYC Youth. “None of us do anything for awards, but it is great to be recognized”.
The RMYC offers opportunities for young people to make a difference. To get involved you can call (807) 622-4666.
