Thunder Bay Police Update on James Street Domestic Incident

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police are reporting on the domestic violence incident that happened earlier this week.

Thunder Bay Police state that “The two victims in this serious domestic violence incident remain in hospital recovering from the knife wounds sustained during this altercation. The efforts by both the TBPS patrol officers and paramedics who responded to this call were instrumental in providing first aid to the victims who both were suffering from life threatening injuries”.

The forty-three-year old male who was taken into custody at the James Street residence has also received medical attention for self-inflicted wounds. He appeared in court this morning facing the charges of Attempt Murder x 2 and Aggravated Assault x 2.

The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victims in this domestic related assault. He has been remanded into custody to the District Jail and will be appearing in court on March 6th, 2015.

The forensic examination of the James Street residence has been completed. The investigation continues by the Criminal Investigations Branch.

Police ask, “Due to the sensitive nature of this incident do not make any comments that would identify the victims or the accused”.

“We thank you for your cooperation and compassion for the victims. We will not comment on this on going investigation”.
