CAN/AM Challenge Cup in Madison

THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – It is another weekend on the road for the Thunder Bay Queens Hockey Team.

It’s off to Madison this weekend for the Thunder Bay Queens as three of their hockey teams will be in Wisconsin to compete in the fourth annual CAN/AM Challenge Cup.

Each of the midget A, RBC Dominion Securities and Tim Hortons peewee sides will be taking part in the event that runs through Sunday.

Two games are on tap for the midget A Queens Friday starting with a Keweenaw Storm of Hancock, Mich., at 10:30 a.m. and followed with a 7 p.m. face-off against the Highland Park Falcons of Illinois.

A pair of contests is also on the slate Saturday as they meet the Minnesota Revolution at 3:15 p.m. and the Chicago Fury at 10 p.m.

As for the bantam AA Queens they’ll open up vs. the Eastman Selects of Manitoba Friday at 8:30 a.m.

They will then take on the St. Louis Lady Blues in a 2:30 p.m. match-up.

Game action Saturday has them taking on the Madison Capitols in a 2:30 p.m. start before taking on the Chicago Fury at 7:30 p.m.

There are a trio of round robin contests for the Thunder Bay peewees starting with a 1:30 p.m. puck drop against the Brighton KV Ravens Friday.

They will then take on the Edina Hornets Green at 7:30 p.m. later in the day.

The peewees will then meet St. Louis at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Further games for all three Queens’ teams in Madison will be based on their results Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile the Sportop midget AA Queens will be heading west to take on the Dryden Eagles in games Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. respectively at Eagle Lake Arena.
