PARIS – INTERNATIONAL NEWS – As the City of Paris re-focuses after the terror attacks and funerals of the victims, Paris is moving forward on important issues.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has made the fight against air pollution a priority of. The fight against air pollution is indeed a major public health issue: the particles reduce the life expectancy of Parisians 6 to 9 months.

In Paris, road traffic is the main emitter of air pollutants. While many measures have been taken by the Paris Executive since 2001, Anne Hidalgo now wants to go faster and further.

The Mayor will submit to the Council of Paris on 9 February an unprecedented level, which combines immediate incentives to changing uses and progressive measures restricting the movement of polluting vehicles to make Paris a low area emissions.

The goal is reduction of smog and other air pollution. This will be done by encouraging people to use less

And to accompany the Parisians to less polluting mobility, The City of Paris has chosen to create a range of targeted measures.

For individuals

In addition to the existing measures for individuals with polluting vehicle class 1 * and 2 * (see table below), it will:

– Financial aid for the purchase of a bicycle or electric bike.

– Discounts on subscription to Autolib ‘(also applies to young people under 25 who have had their license for less than a year)

– Repayment of Navigo pass

Condominiums may benefit from financial aid to install charging stations for electric vehicles or the creation of secure cycle shelters.

The surface parking is free for most electrical own vehicles, gas or hybrid rechargeable essence.

Infrastructure side, the City of Paris will develop the electric charging stations network at attractive rates, and develop Autolib car sharing ‘and other companies over the longer term rental.

Finally, a Mobility Centre will be created to better inform users about all these aids and find the most suitable solution to everyone’s needs.
