THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Travellers heading east from Thunder Bay will have to contend with snow.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for eastern regions of the North of Superior areas.
Special weather statement in effect for:
- Marathon – Schreiber
- Nipigon – Rossport
Accumulating snow near the lake today and tonight.
An Alberta clipper is sailing towards the region. Snow from this disturbance continues to spread into the area. The snow will continue into tonight, with many locales likely receiving near 10 cm.
There is some potential for locally higher amounts thanks to added moisture from Lake Superior. As a result, snowfall warnings may be issued if the snow becomes heavier than currently expected.
Driving conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly as the snow moves in. Motorists should be prepared for low visibility in areas of heavier snow. Accumulating snow on untreated roads will also result in poor winter driving conditions.
