Toronto – POLITICS – The ongoing campaigning in the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership race continues. The party is starting to hear some of the more substantive policy planks from candidates.
Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Vic Fedeli launched the Ontario First Action Plan – a framework of ideas that have come from the party’s grassroots and will shape his administration as Leader and Premier.
“As I travel Ontario, I am inspired by the ideas of our members,” said Fedeli. “They present a vision that will harness the innovation of our private sector, the potential of our natural resources and the aspirations of our people. We need change. I can deliver it.”
The Ontario First Action Plan is built on five foundations, with key ideas that Fedeli will present to the broader party membership for consideration. Those foundations include:
- Building a new economic framework focused on protecting the financial and social future of Ontario families.
- A credible job creation program that fosters growth.
- Investing in Ontario’s assets and building a provincewide infrastructure program.
- Demanding greater accountability in government.
- Instituting mechanisms to prevent problem policies from being released during election campaigns.
“This moment is critical for the future of the Progressive Conservative party and the future of Ontario. We must ask ourselves – who has the leadership experience to build a better future for our party and our province? Who is prepared to deliver meaningful and lasting Progressive Conservative change?” asked Fedeli.
“I understand what it takes to win – I’ve won four elections. I’ve run a business and run a government, created private sector jobs, balanced budgets and delivered services. And I’ve learned how to build strong, prosperous communities, as I did in North Bay. It’s not just about short-term solutions. Building strong communities will build a strong Ontario.”
“Together, we will be a movement of people inspired by a positive vision, fuelled by original thinking and new solutions that appeal to the best in people. That is the message behind the Ontario FirstAction Plan: to set challenging goals and to achieve them together,” said Fedeli.
