RCMP Officers Shot in Alberta

Edmonton, AB – Two uniformed members of the RCMP were injured during an investigation in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 17, 2015. The members were shot during their interaction with a civilian in southeast St. Albert.

The incident reportedly happened when the suspect was stopped for a stolen vehicle report.

The officers, who have endured significant injuries, were struck by gunfire and are now being treated in hospital. The names of the officers will not be released at this time. We are unable to give any further detail at this point as the shootings remain the subject of an active investigation.

The suspect fled the scene. Police efforts to locate him are ongoing. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. The public is asked to avoid the area southeast of the Sturgeon Valley Golf Course. The public should not approach the suspect and should call 911 if they believe they have information pertaining to this event.

The suspect is described as:
· White male
· 25-35 years old
· Wearing two-toned blue striped jacket and jeans
