THUNDER BAY – LETTERS – It’s the beginning of a new year and whether or not you have a list of resolutions, keeping your eyes healthy will help ensure you can enjoy what the year ahead holds. What people don’t know or forget is that getting older means an increase in eye-related conditions like macular degeneration, cataracts and glaucoma. It can also mean an increase in other diseases that impact eyes and vision, such as diabetes or hypertension.

Despite these concerns, I still see many patients who do not regularly receive an eye examination, or even worse, never have had one at all.

A visit to a local Doctor of Optometry can make all the difference in early detection, effective treatment and illness management.

I encourage everyone in the community to visit their local Doctor of Optometry to receive a comprehensive eye exam and have peace of mind about proper vision and eye health this the year.

Dr. Bill Ulakovic
Doctor of Optometry, Thunder Bay
