FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION – Chief Georjann Morriseau has made an announcement today on her political future. In an email sent out last night the Chief says, “This is to notify you all that tomorrow I will be making an announcement pertaining to a recent decision I made relative to my political future”.

The Chief has made the jump to the federal politics, putting her name in the ring running for the federal Liberals in the Thunder Bay Rainy River riding. Chief Morriseau has announced that she will seek the federal Liberal nomination.

Chief Morriseau says, “Recently I was approached with the opportunity by many to run for the Liberal Party of Canada. After personal reflection and much consideration I have decided to seek the seat for the Thunder Bay – Rainy River Riding. This is not a simple process as it involves a series of steps to even become the Candidate”.

“Currently I am a qualified nominee, which means I now need all the support from people like yourself with Liberal values,” continues Morriseau. “If you are interested in supporting me I encourage you to contact me through any means possible. If successful I will be representing the riding as a Liberal Candidate in the Federal elections”.

The next Fort William First Nation election will be held in April 2015.
