50th Anniversary Starts with Flag Raising at City Hall

THUNDER BAY – The 50th Anniversary Celebrations for Lakehead University kicked off this morning at Thunder Bay City Hall with the raising of the LU Flag.

“Over the past fifty years, Lakehead University has built a reputation for being both exceptional and unconventional,” shared Dr. Brian Stephenson, Lakehead University President and Vice-Chancellor. “I invite everyone to join us at our anniversary events to celebrate everything we have accomplished together”.

Dr. Stephenson shared that over the history of the University here in Thunder Bay the facility has made an important impact on the city. The economic impact alone has been over $6 billion.

Graduates and potential new students are invited to visit www.50.lakeheadu.ca to keep up-to-date on the happenings over the year.

Lakehead University – A Year of Celebrations

The celebrations shift from City Hall to Lakehead University Campus this coming Friday for a skating party on Lake Tamblyn. There will be hot chocolate, skating, a barbecue and a bonfire.

As a special incentive, the first 100 guests on Friday will also receive free tickets for the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey as they play the Quiebe a Trois-Rivers Patriotes at Fort William Gardens on Friday night.
