THUNDER BAY – CIVIC POLITICS – The Sister Cities Advisory Committee for the City of Thunder Bay are planning a visit to our Sister City Seinajoki, Finland. The visit is anticipated for the week of June 22, 2015 for approximately 5 days (plus travel time).
The purpose of this visit is to share and gain business, educational, and cultural knowledge. We would like to invite community businesses and/or individuals to accompany the delegation. Costs are currently being worked on as community delegates are expected to cover some of their own costs. Group rates for travel will apply.
The itinerary for the visit will be tailored to the interests of the delegation and can include visits and connections with key businesses, stakeholders within specific areas of interest.

In 1974, the City of Thunder Bay linked with its first sister city – Seinajoki, Finland. Seinajoki has a total population of approximately 150,000 and the urban area population of 60,000. Seinajoki offers high-quality education, good employment opportunities, array of commercial services, good infrastructure, diverse forms of housing, summer events and is well known for The Aalto Centre, a unique administrative and cultural centre.
