Thunder Bay Councillor Pullia Brings Fiscal Experience to Council
THUNDER BAY – POLITICS – Councillor Frank Pullia is back on Thunder Bay City Council and setting his sights on getting the city of Thunder Bay to a balanced budget. As Chair of Administration and Finance, the Accountant and MBA is bringing his experience as a planner and business consultant to the table to help ensure that process gets in place.
Pullia is looking to implement, with the support of City Councillors a budget committee that is in place to oversee the process, not, “micro-managing” Pullia states, but to ensure that issues like finishing the year with a budget deficit does not happen.
With falling prices for oil, and instability in the resource sector, Pullia states that he sees “Structural change coming, like in 2008 in our economy”.
Pullia says that when senior levels of government are faced with smaller revenues, the municipalities are where the end result of those revenue shortfalls come.
