Busy Weekend for Police Continues

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have been busy this weekend. There have been a number of calls that officers have responded to over the past 36 hours.

Traffic incidents topped the list for TPBS, but there have been eight assaults, and one weapons offense that required police attention.

Quality of Life calls were up there as well with police dealing with thirty-five calls including four drug related calls, eleven calls for disorder, and twenty alcohol related calls.

Police are reporting that their Holiday Festive Ride program is working, For police, and for Thunder Bay the number of calls related to alcohol continue to be one of the top calls in our community.

Looking at the Crime Report, the number of calls that are happening earlier in the day, from noon forward during the day, especially in the downtown South core, Fort William Business District express the need for action.

Thunder Bay is also implementing parts of the Safety Audit that was performed a few months ago. The wrought iron fence around Paterson Park is now gone. Concerns were raised over that barrier making the park less safe.
