THUNDER BAY – The price of a litre of gasoline in Thunder Bay is just over twenty cents higher than in Winnipeg Manitoba today. Prices in Winnipeg have fallen to $0.97 per litre. Across the City of Thunder Bay, prices remain higher.
The price of gasoline is partly set by the price of a barrel of oil but also impacted by the level of taxation on each litre of fuel. In Ontario, for each litre of unleaded gasoline – 14.7¢ is added to the base price for the provincial gasoline tax.
Oil companies which are often accused of being fast to raise the price of gasoline and slow to drop it, counter that the costs of gasoline vary annually as well. Special winter additives are needed in Canada for fuel, which cost more.
However the range in Gasoline Prices across the region vary greatly.
