THUNDER BAY, ON – On December 1, 2014, Kitty Kare will be competing in the Semi-Finals for Aviva Community Fund’s $1,000,000 challenge.

Kitty Kare is a non-profit, volunteer driven feline rescue organization established in 2010 that is committed to rescuing abandoned and stray cats from the city’s Animal Services; cats which are to be euthanized due to illness, lack of space or condition. 1500 stray and abandoned felines are brought to Animal Services every year. 1200 are euthanized. Only 300 are either claimed or adopted out. Kitty Kare removes cats which are to be euthanized and places them into foster homes. Kitty Kare has saved almost 600 lives, there are healthy, loving cats and kittens put to death daily. Every life is valuable. Kitty Kare’s success story will continue with Aviva’s help. Kitty Kare will continue its work, saving lives of abandoned animals, like Boo who suffered a neurological injury from blunt force trauma and was burned…or Eileen whose leg had to be amputated to save her.
