Thunder Bay Roads and Highways a Skating Rink

THUNDER BAY – Traffic in and around Thunder Bay is dicey this morning. Weather Alerts are in effect for the city, Freezing Rain has fallen overnight.

There is a reported accident at the Harbour Expressway and traffic is backed up along the Edward Street Golf Links Road.

Thunder Bay Transit was off line for an hour this morning, but buses are running however you can likely expect delays.

Thunder Bay road crews started early this morning with the task of sanding down roadways and sidewalks.

School buses in and around the city are not running, however all schools in Thunder Bay are currently reported open.

Today resident can expect delays at the airport, and slow traffic until things settle down.

Environment Canada is calling for “Freezing rain or ice pellets changing to snow and local blowing snow this morning. Snow and ice pellet amount 5 cm. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50. Temperature falling to minus 6 this morning then steady”.

Snowfall amounts in Thunder Bay are expected near 2 cm.
