SIOUX LOOKOUT – A thirty-two year old Cat Lake man, Alvin Ash has been arrested and is currently in custody in Sioux Lookout. The charges stem from an incident on November 18, 2014 that happened at approximately 6:30AM (CST). OPP officers with the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a female in medical distress in a room at a lodging on May Street in Sioux Lookout.

OPP officers and ambulance personnel attended the scene and located a female who did not respond to treatment. The female, identified as 29-year-old Deidre Patayash of Weagamow (Round Lake) First Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A post mortem examination is being scheduled for November 20, 2014 in Toronto.

The Sioux Lookout OPP and the OPP North West Region Crime Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

On November 18, 2014 32-year-old Alvin Ash of Cat Lake First Nation was arrested in relation to this investigation and has been charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is currently in custody and will appear in Sioux Lookout Court on Friday November 21, 2014.
