Motor Vehicle Accident Sends Driver to Hospital

THUNDER BAY – Shortly after 11:00 p.m. Friday evening police began to receive 911 calls regarding a white pick-up truck being driven erratically in the vicinity if Highway 61 and the Chippewa Road intersection. One caller stated that this vehicle had nearly forced him off the road and another call indicated that a taxi had nearly been struck.

Moments later, a call was received that a similar white truck was in the ditch and a male was unconscious near the intersection of City Road and Mission Road.

Officers upon arrival determined that the male driver, who was alone in the vehicle at the time of the collision, had to be extricated by Fire Services before he could be taken to hospital by ambulance.

A 27 year old male Thunder Bay resident has been admitted to the TBRHSC with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation continues and Thunder Bay Police report that charges are pending.

Thunder Bay Police are fully investigating the accident and are planning a further media release once that investigation is completed.
