THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Going up against the No. 8 nationally-ranked Queen’s Gaels, Thunderwolves shooting guard Jylisa Williams had herself a game that no Lakehead (or Queen’s) fan will be forgetting any time soon.
Williams went off for 42 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists as the Thunderwolves upset the Gaels 82-76 in their season opener on Friday. She was also a perfect 10 for 10 from the free throw line.
The 42 points eclipsed her previous Lakehead record of 39 set last season and was just 7 points shy of former Brock Badger Candi Lohr’s OUA record of 49.
Williams and the Thunderwolves were back on the court Saturday hosting the York Lions and the outcome was the same. She scored a game-high 25 points, along with eight rebounds and eight assists as Lakehead defeated York 62-46.
Williams’ weekend numbers: 33.5 PPG, 8 RPG, 4 APG, 3.5 SPG
Lakehead is 2-0 to open the season and will travel to Hamilton this weekend to take on the McMaster Marauders.
