THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay is honouring service men and women.

In honour of our veterans, Thunder Bay Transit is pleased to provide free transit service to all veterans and military personnel in uniform and the family members accompanying them on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

The free transit will apply to all conventional fixed route service and registrants of Lift+ specialized services. Thunder Bay Transit will observe Remembrance Day with one minute of silence at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

This move came eight years ago, when then Mayor Lynn Peterson and the Council moved to have Transit observe the eleventh hour by stopping the buses. The request for transit to stop at 11:00AM on Remembrance Day came after a request from NetNewsLedger.

Then in the next term following that move, Councillor Frank Pullia moved, and was supported by all Council to have free transit service for veterans and service men and women on Remembrance Day.
