THUNDER BAY – If you are a fan of CBC it is looking like there are more cuts coming at your favourite source for news and entertainment.
CBC will lose another 400 jobs by the end of March 2015.
These cuts to workers will bring the total number of jobs cut at Canadian Broadcasting Corporation through the fiscal year to 1057 employees.
Thunder Bay lost the afternoon radio show in the last round of cuts. It can be hoped that further cuts won’t impact local radio programming in Northwestern Ontario.
Thunder Bay now gets afternoon radio programming out of Sudbury. The western parts of Northwestern Ontario receive their programming out of Winnipeg, with Dryden and Kenora getting their radio and television out of Manitoba.
There are concerns in many smaller markets across Canada, and in particular rural and northern Canada that the next round of job cuts could further reduce service and local news and information.
