Aboriginal Youth Speaking Out
THUNDER BAY – Aboriginal Youth Speaking Out is headed to Ottawa. Starting from Winnipeg Manitoba, the walkers are headed to Parliament Hill to bring the message that protection of Aboriginal people is important. Spokesperson Robin says that the group came together in Winnipeg after the body of Tina Fontaine was pulled from the Red River.
The homicide garnered national attention, yet the group says did not seem to resonate with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Calling the issue of murdered and missing Aboriginal women simply a crime and not seeking to find out all the reasons why the massive percentages of murdered and missing women in Canada are Anishinabek is wrong the group states.
Aboriginal Youth Speaking Out is in Thunder Bay and will participate in the closing ceremonies of Walking With Our Sisters.
