Calgary Infrastructure Destroyed by Fire
CALGARY – Downtown Calgary is blacked out. A fire in the downtown underground in Calgary on Saturday night has destroyed vital power infrastructure. A forty-two square block area in the downtown of the city has power out today, and it could be from four to seven days before full power, telephone and Internet is restored.
Calgary Mayor Neeshi says that there are 5000 people who live in the area and are without power. “If you were planning your Thanksgiving dinner I am sorry to say you will have to make other plans,” stated the Mayor at a press conference in Calgary’s Emergency Management Centre.
The damage will impact many of the office towers, and apartment buildings in the downtown core in Calgary.
