Weather North of Lake Superior

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Rain is in the forecast for the weekend. Environment Canada is calling for showers for Thunder Bay and has issued weather watchs and warnings for East Lake Superior.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

Agawa – Lake Superior Park
Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay

A low pressure area originating from Texas will cross Missouri this evening and will strengthen as it approaches the Great Lakes overnight. Although some rain has been affecting areas near Lakes Huron and Superior today, more organized heavier rain associated with this system will begin later this evening or overnigh. Current indications suggest this developing system will deliver in excess of 50 mm in the warned regions by late Friday, with some localized areas receiving up to 75 mm. The heavier rain is expected to taper off Friday evening.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Weather Watches for East of Thunder Bay

Special weather statement in effect for:

Marathon – Schreiber
Nipigon – Rossport
Early autumn storm bringing rain heavy at times tonight and Friday.

A low pressure area originating from Texas is crossing Missouri this evening and will strengthen as it approaches the Great Lakes overnight. Rain heavy at times associated with this system will begin overnight for areas north of superior as well as parts of Northeastern Ontario. Current indications suggest this developing system will deliver 30 to locally 50 mm of rain by late Friday evening. Rainfall amounts in excess of 50 mm in a 24 hour time frame are expected for regions adjacent to Eastern Lake Superior and Northern Lake Huron where a rainfall warning is in effect.
