PIKANGIKUM – A house fire on Sunday has left one person dead in Pikangikum First Nation. The incident is under investigation by police and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office

Pikangikum Police Service received a report of a house fire on Lagoon Road within the Pikangikum First Nation Territory at 3:51AM CDT on September 28, 2014

Officers attended the residence and were able to extinguish the fire.

As officers examined the scene, that is when the discovery of a body was made.

The Pikangikum Police Service assisted by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the Office of the Fire Marshal are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
