THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – There were very few positives to be drawn from Sunday’s baseball game against MSU Moorhead, who pounded the Thunderwolves 26-0.
Ben Kennedy wouldn’t make it out of the first inning, giving up 9 runs with 4 walks after facing 11 batters. He didn’t get much help from his defense, who were charged with 2 errors in the frame, and 3 more errors in the 2nd inning. With the pitching staff completely depleted, position players were rotated onto the mound for the remainder of the game, which was a formality at best.
Tyler Millhiser recorded 2 strike outs in the 5th, and drove a ball to gap in right field in the bottom of the inning, one of Lakehead’s 2 hits on the day. Alex Salterio did come in to pitch in the 4th inning, putting up the only ‘0’ on the scoreboard for the Lakehead pitching staff, before departing in the 5th in favor of Millhiser.
“We didn’t come ready to play at all this morning,” said coach Jason Hart.”These guys [from Moorhead] are the division champs for a reason, and they took it to us today.”
