Arson Charges Laid in Thistle Cresent Fire

Thunder Bay Fire RescueTHUNDER BAY – CRIME –Thunder Bay Police charged a twenty-eight-year old city man with arson in relation to a house fire on Thistle Crescent which happened on Thursday evening. There was extensive damage to both the residence and the garage.

Thunder Bay fire-fighters dealt with both flames and heavy smoke from the attached garage.

Fortunately, no one was inside the residence. However the family pet, a dog was rescued by a roofing crew who were working the area and heard it barking.

The bulk of the fire was isolated to the garage area.

Christopher Kowalczyk, who resided in the residence, was arrested at the scene without incident. He appeared in court today and has been remanded to District Jail.

A joint investigation with both the Thunder Bay Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall office is ongoing.
